Grain Bin Economics

from the Farm Management Wiki

Grain Bin Economics is a page containing information helpful in evaluating the costs of on-farm grain storage. Grain storage costs have both fixed and variable components. Fixed costs are incurred regardless of whether grain actually is stored in storage facilities, whereas variable costs are incurred only when grain is stored. In this sense, fixed costs are the cost of owning the storage facilities (i.e., depre-ciation, interest, taxes, and insurance).
